Fall 2011 Northern Colorado Professional Photographers Model Shootout

Update, 21 September – the date for the shootout is Sunday, October 23rd.  Official starting time is 10am.

Update 17 October – two question keep coming up so I see I need to make sure these are clear to everyone:

1. What should I wear.

Clothing.  Whatever you want to wear.  You will be the person seen in the clothing in the photos.  Wear what you want to be photographed in.  There is no theme or concept to this.  Each photographer will be doing his/her own thing.  More clothing to choose from is better than less clothing to choose from.  I would not recommend bringing one outfit.

Also more variety in what you bring will make it more likely that you will get a good variety of styles in your photographs.  Also if a photographer wants some theme for a photo and you have wardrobe that fits that style then you are in.  If you don’t, then not so much.

2. What is the address.

The address is 13 miles up the Poudre Canyon Highway.

Or more specifically: 13714 POUDRE CANYON HIGHWAY (aka CO 14), BELLVUE, COLORADO 80512 • 970.482.4420.  It’s in all caps ’cause I copied and pasted from their website.  They are proud of their location.

The Mishawaka is not inside Fort Collins city limits.  It’s out in the forest, up in the moutains.  You will be driving 30 minutes to get there, if not more depending on where you live.  Yes, it has electricity and running water.  And flush toilets.  If you don’t know where it is at go to their website and and click on the “about” tab.

My mistake, I thought everyone in Northern Colorado knew where “The Mish” is at.  That’s what I get for making assumptions.

When?

Sunday, October 23, officially starting at 10am.  You can arrive earlier if you wish but the Mish opens at 10am.  It ends when we leave or when they kick us out, whichever comes first.

Where?

At the Mishawaka in the Poudre Canyon right by the river.

How do you participate?

Show up.  That’s it.  If you let me know in advance you are coming that’s great, but you don’t need to email asking if we are still looking for models – yes we are.  You don’t need to auditon or fill out a form.

Model, MUA, hair stylist, designer, photographer, whatever your passion, just show up.

Photographers – $20.  Bring cash.

All other participants free.

Note that The Mish will be open for business while we are there.  Have lunch if you like.  And yes, the bar will be open as well.

What?

Model Shootout.  Photographers, models, make-up artists, hair stylist, clothing designers, creative directors – anyone who wants to participate is invited.  It’s good to let us know in advance that you are attending but that’s not required.  Just show up.

If you let us know in advance you are coming I will put a link on this page to your online presence.

You can communicate with us about the shootout by leaving a comment below if you like.  Ask questions, RSVP and so forth.  Photographers please RSVP via meetup.com if you are a member of the group.

Models:

All models may be required to sign a release form for the photographers you work with.  The photographers will be providing their own model release forms.  In return photographers will be expected to provide you with photos from the event.

If you are 17 or younger you must bring a parent or guardian to sign model release forms.

Julie Gallahue of nxt|MODEL agency in Denver will be on site.  Just sayin’ . . .  Do as you wish with this information.

While there may be make-up artists, hair stylist & clothing designers on hand and available do not assume they will be available.  You should bring your own wardrobe and be ready to do your own make-up & hair.

The photographers are asked to provide you with some photos for your use.  Make sure they have contact info to get those to you, or get their contact info so you can bug them.

Photographers:

In return for their participate please make sure you get contact information from the models, make-up artists, hair stylist, clothing designers and creative directors so you can get copies of your photos to them for their portfolio use.

Bring your own model release forms!  Don’t have one?  Contact me and I’ll help you out with that.  No Co Photo will not be providing forms this time around.
