Don’t upgrade to Lightroom 4 from 3.x yet.
Lightroom 4.0 = Ouch Okay, I’ve finally learned my lesson. Don’t upgrade to Lightroom x.0, wait for the x.1 release. I just checked my catalog and yes, Lightroom 4.0 has hosed all my point curve adjustments. Thank you Adobe and especially that you to all the Adobe beta testers who do such a great job of test driving the new Lightroom. If you are thinking of upgrading, don’t do it until the 4.1 version is … Continue reading
Will upgrading from Windows XP to Windows 7 solve all of your Lightroom related problems?
If you install Windows 7 will that make Adobe Lightroom run faster, better and awesomer? The short answer is “no”. The long answer follows. If you are a Lightroom user, and if you have had problems with Lightroom, and if you have asked questions of people on the internet or in person about your Lightroom problems then you have been asked what operating system are you running. If you are running Windows XP you have … Continue reading

Who Am I to Have an Opinion?
What makes me think I get to have an opinion about Lightroom? You may, or may not, at some point notice what appears to be a contradiction. Or a discrepancy. Or something that just doesn’t make sense to you. Let me explain. You may notice that I use Adobe Lightroom for my photograph cataloguing and post-processing. You may also notice that I teach people how to use Adobe Lightroom. You may have found my Adobe … Continue reading
Lightroom 3.5 – Just Another Bug Hunt.
Review of Lightroom 3.5 – the latest bug list. After you finish reading this review, or before you read this review, you might want to take a look at two other post in my blog which are going to be related to this topic. Who Am I to Have an Opinion? and Will upgrading from Windows XP to Windows 7 solve all of your Lightroom related problems? I will start by reviewing the reported problems … Continue reading
Fix for Adobe Error Code 148:3
If you are like me you are really smart, really talented and really good looking. In fact dead sexy is how I like to describe myself. If you are like me you also enjoy tinkering with your computer. Did you go into your registry and disable some startup items in an attempt to free up some resources? Did you then get this when you started one of your Adobe products: “Error 148:3 – Licensing for … Continue reading

Lightroom 3.4.1 Review
Lightroom Review – v 3.4.1 Note: Review of Lightroom 3.5 is now posted. It’s time to continue the tradition of ripping on Adobe Lightroom. The latest release is 3.4.1. The 3.4 release was replaced pretty quick. I think I only had 3.4 installed for two weeks and it was nothing but trouble. Onward and upward. Also I will be soon writing a post talking specifically about troubleshooting these and other Adobe Lightroom problems. In my … Continue reading

Lightroom 3.3 – The Suckage Gets Worse
Lightroom 3.3 – The Suckage Gets Worse Edit: Lightroom 3.4.1 is out and I have a review (aka bug report) on that version posted here. I’ve been driving Adobe Lightroom 3.3 for a while now. You may have read my past reviews of LR 3.0 and 3.2. Or maybe you haven’t . . . and should that be the case you are slacking. I’m gonna heavily reference my Lightroom 3.2 review here so you might … Continue reading
Adobe Lightroom 3.2 review: Much Sucktion to be Found.
Adobe Lightroom 3.2: The Saga Continues. Edit: My review of Lightroom 3.3 is now available at this link. I’ve been running the 3.2 version of Adobe’s Lightroom for many moons now. I can say that it’s not that much of an improvement over 3.0 and it has introduced some new problems as well. I’ll be building on the problems I covered in my review of Adobe Lightroom 3.0 so you might want to read that … Continue reading
Let’s just call crap “crap”. Adobe Lightroom 3.0
I purchased the new Adobe Lighroom 3.0 soon after it was released. This confirms it. I am stupid. Edit: Lightroom 3.2 has been released. Read my review of it here: http://204eastsouth.com/skippy/2010/11/adobe-lightroom-3-2-review-much-sucktion-to-be-found/ . What’s wrong with Lightroom 3.0? It’s not the features. The features are just fine. It’s the fact that the software is buggy as all get up, runs slow, has amazingly poor memory management and quite simply doesn’t work sometimes. 1. When moving files … Continue reading
Lightroom 2.6: Not all kittens and rainbows.
I’ve spent quite a bit of my time and reputation pimping Adobe Lightroom 2.6. Over the last two days LR has pissed me off big time. I just did a two day photo shoot, over 4000 photos. I wanted to try using LR’s export feature to convert the raw files to dng, put then in new directories and rename them. I didn’t think I was asking all that much. The 4000+ photos were divided up … Continue reading
