Will upgrading from Windows XP to Windows 7 solve all of your Lightroom related problems?
If you install Windows 7 will that make Adobe Lightroom run faster, better and awesomer? The short answer is “no”. The long answer follows. If you are a Lightroom user, and if you have had problems with Lightroom, and if you have asked questions of people on the internet or in person about your Lightroom problems then you have been asked what operating system are you running. If you are running Windows XP you have … Continue reading

Who Am I to Have an Opinion?
What makes me think I get to have an opinion about Lightroom? You may, or may not, at some point notice what appears to be a contradiction. Or a discrepancy. Or something that just doesn’t make sense to you. Let me explain. You may notice that I use Adobe Lightroom for my photograph cataloguing and post-processing. You may also notice that I teach people how to use Adobe Lightroom. You may have found my Adobe … Continue reading

Fix for Adobe Error Code 148:3
If you are like me you are really smart, really talented and really good looking. In fact dead sexy is how I like to describe myself. If you are like me you also enjoy tinkering with your computer. Did you go into your registry and disable some startup items in an attempt to free up some resources? Did you then get this when you started one of your Adobe products: “Error 148:3 – Licensing for … Continue reading

You lost your mind have you? You want to be a photographer. You want to work “for yourself”. You want to own a business and be The Man. You want to work when you want to work. I can tell you that it’s true. You will get to choose which 12 hours of each 7 days of the week you will work. One more important thing. Photographers, You Have to Get Paid I’ve discovered that … Continue reading
Five Things Every Photographer Should Do
As part of my Sleazy SEO campaign I need to write more blog posts that have titles which promise numbered lists containing information which will make your life better. I came up with this one while stuffing my face at Nordy’s in downtown Fort Collins. Nordy’s is not paying me for this blatant advertising but the $10 all-you-can-stuff-in-your-face BBQ buffet is too good to turn down. I hit that now and then and and always … Continue reading

Lightroom 3.4.1 Review
Lightroom Review – v 3.4.1 Note: Review of Lightroom 3.5 is now posted. It’s time to continue the tradition of ripping on Adobe Lightroom. The latest release is 3.4.1. The 3.4 release was replaced pretty quick. I think I only had 3.4 installed for two weeks and it was nothing but trouble. Onward and upward. Also I will be soon writing a post talking specifically about troubleshooting these and other Adobe Lightroom problems. In my … Continue reading

Lightroom 3.3 – The Suckage Gets Worse
Lightroom 3.3 – The Suckage Gets Worse Edit: Lightroom 3.4.1 is out and I have a review (aka bug report) on that version posted here. I’ve been driving Adobe Lightroom 3.3 for a while now. You may have read my past reviews of LR 3.0 and 3.2. Or maybe you haven’t . . . and should that be the case you are slacking. I’m gonna heavily reference my Lightroom 3.2 review here so you might … Continue reading
Almost as good as free sex.
I did say “almost”. I use Lightroom for my photo editing now that I’ve joined the world of digital photography. I am not a fan of Photoshop mostly because of the cost and complexity. When I need to do Photoshop like modifications to my images I use GIMP (GNU Image Manipulation Program) which is open source and free. I found GIMP and started using it when I moved to Linux as my primary operating system … Continue reading
