For my last photo shoot I sent out multiple emails about the event and in at least three of them, plus in this blog, I specified exactly when and where the shoot was going down.  On model not only showed up hours late, but she showed up in the wrong city.

Yes, the wrong city.  Not wrong building, block or street.  The wrong city.

Denver, Loveland.

I get them mixed up all the time myself.  Really, they are almost identical.  And right next to each other.

For my next photo shoot I sent out this email inquiry to a potential model:

I’m shooting a fashion shoot in Old Town Fort Collins on Sunday July 25th.  I need some models.  It’s a trade gig, no one is getting paid.  The purpose is:

to get some images which local fashion designers can use to promote their work and

stuff the portfolios of the models and myself

plus generate publicity for the store that is hosting the shoot.

The shoot will be open to the public – people will be watching and wondering about the store as we do the photos.  It’s likely I’ll have a second photographer and we will do some photos outside the store and in Old Town Square as well.  Please let me know if you are interested in participating.

Mama Said Shoot!

Mama Said Sew (http://mamasaidsew.com/) and On The Fly Photography (http://204EastSouth.com) are teaming up for Mama Said Shoot!  A fashion shoot featuring local fashion designers.  Sunday, July 25th in Old Town Fort Collins.  The shoot will be open to the public as they browse the store and watch the happenings.  A rocking good time will be had by all.

I’m not making this up.  I wish I was.

But wait, I sent out a very similar email to other photographers.  It looked like this:

Anyone wanna second shooter at a fashion shoot with me?

No lameness. You have to get more than 4 good photos and you have to provide images to all the models and designers involved. You will retain copyright but the models and designers must be allowed to use the photos in their portfolios and online.

Gig is trade, no payments. Would also be a good opportunity to pimp yourself to the public and hand out business cards – that’s what I’m gonna be doing.

I’ll have my lighting equipment in the store, tho the natural light inside is great as well, plus we can shoot outside and in Old Town Square and the surrounding area.

I’m looking to have 5 or 6 models, so you can work with groups or individuals.

I got four responses from photographers.  Two of them asked me when the shoot was taking place and one of them wanted to know if the shoot was in his studio.  Are reading comprehension skills really in such sort demand?  Or is this part of the vast right wing conspiracy?  Can they not read and understand English because of BP and the oil spill?

Can anyone enlighten me?  Post your response below and I will . . . read it.
