Lightroom 4.0 = Ouch
Okay, I’ve finally learned my lesson. Don’t upgrade to Lightroom x.0, wait for the x.1 release.
I just checked my catalog and yes, Lightroom 4.0 has hosed all my point curve adjustments. Thank you Adobe and especially that you to all the Adobe beta testers who do such a great job of test driving the new Lightroom.
If you are thinking of upgrading, don’t do it until the 4.1 version is out.
On a related topic, as other have noted Lightroom 4.0 is even more sluggish than 3.x. As others have noticed, just moving a slider in the develop module pushes CPU use to 100%. The new 2012 process does have some advantages, and for my camera (Canon 7D) the default contrast is much nicer in 2012 than in 2010 – but is it really worth it to upgrade with bugs of this magnitude?
Lightroom 4 Hot Issues. I like how Abode repackages bugs as “hot issues”. That’s killer. Read the user comments at this link. I’m not even going to bother reviewing (listing the bugs in) the 4.0 version because all these people have done it for me.
I get the feeling 4.0 was rushed to the market to get money flowing. The gang at Adobe really needs to get their act together.
